Monday 7pm

So today we looked at the fill sticking
RLRRLL,RLRRLL,RLRL to start with. Try moving the single strokes (the RL) as accents around the kit and find different voicings for the RLRL at the end
We then looked at the first groove for Californication by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.  Take your time with this groove, remember to build in all the parts gradually and STAY RELAXED. The final part of the groove is the double snare drums on beats 2 and 4. Remember stay loose and throw the stick down. Don't worry if it's a little uncontrolled to start with it will come!
Good luck :)

Monday 6pm

So today we went over the 16th note fill sticking to start with:
RLRRLL,RLRRLL,RLRL and also some of the triplet stickings from the last few weeks.
You guys have all done really well with "On Call" nailing the verse and the chorus groove really nicely
We started looking at the only other part left in the piece which is the cymbal crashes in bar 41. Make sure you go over this again a few times this week as it needs to be automatic when you play. You won't have time to try to work it out as you play!
We also went over the tricky hi-hat groove in "Rollin" which is really comming together and the groove change in 'Sidewinder" over the guitar solo. Take care with your bass drum placement!
See you next week :)
